Grandma Kane’s Jelly Roll

4 eggs
½ tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder, rounded
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
½ cup water
1 Tbsp. butter
Preheat oven to 350°. Beat eggs lightly, add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Cut a piece of waxed paper to fit a jelly roll pan and grease and place in pan. Pour batter in pan and bake 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. While cake is baking make the filling. Boil together the cocoa, sugar, water and butter. Take cake out of oven and cool slightly. Turn cake onto a damp towel and roll it (not too tightly). Unroll out of towel and quickly pour filling over the cake and roll back up. Wrap the towel around the jelly roll to keep it moist until it is cooled. Can be sprinkled with powdered sugar before serving.
